i agree about the realistic version of the future, though i’m a big fan of the original series. there was some time travel in the series as well. i’ve learned to deal with it, though again, i’m not a big fan of it.

I loved the movie, thought it was a brilliant take on a very stale series. I would maybe go so far as to say that it was the best Trek movie save for First Contact. As for the whole time travel thing, I kinda like it. Time travel is theoretically possible so why not take it, in fiction, to it’s logical conclusion? Regardless, I enjoyed even though I’ve never really been a big fan of the utopian vision of Star Trek. It’s not human nature to create a system that believes in the common good. To me, a more realistic version of the future is something similar to Aliens or Blade Runner.

time travel always creates more problems than it solves. and the biggest one – two spocks? of course, one could spend some time talking to themselves…

i loved it. But yeah, some pretty big plot-holes.

After showing up in the past, the Romulans just sat around for twenty years?

Since when could a mining ship take on cruisers like that?

With advance technology, why not just go to Romulus and say ‘hey! This crap’s gonna happen! Here’s proof, get ready!’

A human is a member of the council of cretakers on Vulcan culture?

All the weaknesses had to do with time-travel, so…yeah. Enough already!
