so i stopped by the crossroads of the west gun show today. it was nice to see some of the prices start to come down after jumping up since obama took office. that custom pink ruger 10/22 really caught my eye from r&s precision sports. i almost threw caution to the wind and bought it. perhaps next time.

apparently, law & order: svu aired an episode on feb 17th that involved a young trans girl (referred to as a “13-year-old transgendered son” in the tv guide review, but seemed to get the pronouns right). i’m looking forward to viewing it as soon as it becomes available. the comments i’ve read so far places the episode in a fairly positive light.

first of all, they really need to come up with a better name than “the radical transgender agenda”. it just doesn’t roll of the tongue like “the radical homosexual agenda”. but i digress.
apparently, the clara barton elementary school in oxford, massachusetts employs a night custodian who has transitioned over the summer break this past year. this has been seen as “unthinkable” and “mind-numbing” according to this article from massresistance, a radical reactionary “christian” organization, that would apparently rather hate and discriminate against their brothers and sisters.
part of the headline exclaims that the children will be told about the custodian (if they should ask about her) in a “simple and straightforward” manor. of course the radical reactionary christian groups would protest, because they are so used to explaining things in a complex and convoluted manor to keep their flocks, well, confused and uninformed. so yeah, i can see how being clear might cloud their issue. or something.
they also take issue with the letter that was sent out to parents, because the letter was written in “an eerie informational style”, and they go on to call it “orwellian”. i suppose when your head in buried in a single text that was written thousands of years ago, translated dozens of times, and used thou’s and “ye shall’s”, an informational style would be viewed as “eerie”. and when you’re used to twisting things around, being simple and straightforward would be viewed as “orwellian”.
far be it for an educational institution like the clara barton elementary school to, you know, educate.

kudos to motorola, nokia, and foxconn in india, who are teaming up with the tamil nadu social welfare board, the madras christian council of social service (MCCSS), and manpower awareness social service (MASS) trust in chennai, india. they’ll be training about 100 trans people for a month for training in the repair and assembly of mobile phones.
i’m impressed that a christian organization is actually helping lgbt people in india, instead of the types of programs they’re involved with here in the u.s.

the houston press did a piece on safe2pee.org called even transsexuals need to pee somewhere. i particularly enjoyed the image:
i’ve added a couple of locations to the phoenix area safe2pee list in the past. looking at the site, it appears that they had a slight database issue, so if you’ve added locations in the past, you may want to check to ensure they’re still there. if not, the rest of us looking to pee would appreciate it if you’d re-enter the locations.

stopping off at sportman’s warehouse on the same day as the ammo deliveries paid off. 3 boxes of federal america eagle ae9ap @ $12.99 each and a box of the tried and true ae22 @ $17.99 (up a few dollars in past months). i’ve heard mixed results about the 9mm stuff, but i’ve had good results from the .22, at least in my s&w 2206.
