“What is REAL?” asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?”
“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.”
“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.
“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”
“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,” he asked, “or bit by bit?”
“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

i took down my pink walther p22 to the next level when i cleaned it after my trip to the range on tuesday. removing the assembly from the frame allowed for a more detailed cleaning. i can’t believe how much gunk accumulated after only about 1000 rounds.
additionally, i tried my new ammo, the federal game-shok fmj .22 stuff i got on national ammo day. it worked well, except for a couple of failures to cycle in the walther. it might be a less expensive alternative than the cci minimag stuff i’ve been using.

remember, getting a flu shot to avoid the flu, is like cutting yourself with a dull, rusty razor blade to avoid tetanus. don’t do it.

i had a doctor appointment today. i needed to renew my hormone prescription and have my annual blood work. also, my job is making me sick, literally. i’m fortunate that i have medical insurance, an excellent medical group that specializes in lgbt care, and enough credit money to pay for the co-pay.
it looks like i’ll live, pending the results of the blood work. i also got a flu shot for the first time.

bass pro shops has this pink ruger 10/22 on sale for $229.99 until december 7th.

vang comp systems is selling a pink remington 870 modified for better accuracy, lower recoil, and less muzzle rise. their standard 870 mod is $1495.00 plus shipping and handling. no price for the pink model is provided.
my christmas list is complete.

i stopped off at sportsmans warehouse to buy some ammo in celebration of national ammo day. the shelves were bare, but i did manage to get 250 rounds.

i got 50 rounds of 9mm blazer ammo for $9.95, which is a pretty good price. it features an aluminum casing as opposed to brass, and the price was right for target practice at the range. i’ll see how it performs.

i also got 200 rounds of federal game-shok .22 rimfire ammo. except for the lack of hollow points, it looks identical to the cci minimag ammo i typically buy, and it was a dollar less per box. if it performs as well as the cci minimag stuff, and it continues to be available, i’ll start using it regularly. no need for hollow points at the range, and a dollar per 100 round savings is welcome.
as an added note, i find it somehow apropos, that national ammo day, november 19th, is one day before the transgender day of remembrance, november 20th. like they’re encouraging us to stock up on ammo the day before we gather. for protection.
i’m off from work today, but i can’t seem to get motivated to leave the house. i’ve been surfing the web, and reading what others are writing.

pam posts an open thread.
and bil ‘come to my blog and teach me about the tran’ browning posts an hrc video.
now to be fair to bil, pam also posted the utube hrc video. but it’s under the fold, and it’s one among three. there’s one comment in bil’s thread that says it for me, by Alyssa:
You DO realize, that hrc has been actively working to make more dead transwomen.
This is beyond tasteless. They are celebrating their long career of assuring that trans women will find it harder to survive. They are reveling in it, and rubbing it in our faces.
And this is not at all unusual for gay and lesbians. Not at all.
…
How long will it be before they rename it “Gay on Trans Hate trophy day?”
yeah, there’s many trans women who are not feeling the love from the hrc. i’m among them. even more so after learning that they’re celebrating this day with a “fun, laid-back evening”, and trying to muscle in on several local tdor events.
there was a time when i questioned the idea that the only day of the year that trans people gather as a community, was a day on which we remember those of us who are murdered because of who we are. i posted about trans awareness week, and liked the idea of a different kind of gathering for the trans community. i’ve come to know now, that tdor is is really the only day we, as trans people, own. and if others want to take it away, they’ll have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands.
