it called it bones

there’s been some talk about this episode of bones (as well as the top 15 trans killer movies).

i started watching the bones episode on hulu, but had to turn it off after about 10 minutes.

i suppose it is for all the reasons suggested in the variety of posts listed, and quotes from the show like “Do you think it means anything? She lived her life split in two, then, in death, split in two again.”, that i have it in my will, that i am to be cremated upon my death. if my husband survives me, i trust him to make sure that happens. if not, i am confident that in a hundred years, someone may come across my remains, and gender me male, full stop.

i suppose there are those who would call me vain, or wanting to perpetuate my “deception” or “illusion” beyond death.

if i’m remembered, i simply want to be remembered as my authentic self.

  1. by the way, this post’s title, “it called it bones” is from the star trek episode “all our yesterdays”, in which kirk is inadvertently sent back through time on another planet that’s on the verge of dying, is mistaken for a witch, and accused by another prisoner of speaking with demons. she overhears kirk speaking with dr. mccoy through some kind of portal, and hears him call mccoy “bones”. so in her accusation, she says “it (meaning kirk, who as a witch, isn’t human) called it (meaning mccoy, who as a demon, and isn’t human either) bones”.

  2. Good dig on the title, lol

Me too, btw. Cremation, or, at the very least, a specific note left in the casket stating not only am I me, but if they present me as otherwise I’m going to burn the damn place down from the grave.

For remembering though, I’ve decided that I’m going to build an obelisk and place on it a 512 encyrption in a language that I created.

I figure that should puzzle people enough for centuries…
