military discrimination?

according to this article from ascribe:

New figures released today by the Transgender American Veterans Association reveal that transgender service members and veterans, like many transgender people in the U.S., face a variety of forms of discrimination based on their transgender status. The survey of 827 U.S. military veterans and active-duty personnel mark the first major empirical findings on transgender people in the military.

ya think? well, at least now there’s actual empirical documentation.

kinds gives this issue some teeth.

  1. I can’t imagine a worse place to be transgender, except maybe a professional sports team.

Even the priesthood is lots safer.

  2. to be honest, there aren’t a lot of places that are much better, especially when it comes to the kinds of places many trans people find themselves in.

frankly, even in my current job, i don’t talk about my past, and i don’t believe anyone (or very many) knows about my past. and the company for which i work has a pretty good record on diversity. the fact is, most minorities are not well accepted pretty much anywhere.
