according to this press release, the apa resolves to play leading role in improving treatment for gender-variant people. i have to wonder if it was their resolution before, to treat gender variant people poorly.
in any event, the news looks good.
The American Psychological Association urged psychologists today to take a leading role in ending discrimination based on gender identity, calling upon the profession to provide “appropriate, nondiscriminatory treatment to all transgender and gender-variant individuals” and encouraging more research into all aspects of gender identity and expression.
read the entire press release here.

The proposal looks good, but just look at who is on the task force; Zucker and Anne Lawrence.
I’ll definitely be blogging on this too though, thanks for the heads up; I just wish we could get some news that is completely good.
With these two on the taskforce I can’t see much good coming from this (though I haven’t googled the other members yet).

“I just wish we could get some news that is completely good.”
yeah, me too. though it does seem that generally speaking, news seems to get every so slightly better as the years go by. it seems a painfully slow process though.
