i’m confused. perhaps my lack of internet savvy is the cause. my post is a comment about the previously cast debate, and a plea that we all behave with greater understanding. i wasn’t insisting on anything.

10 years on the internet is a pretty short time, compared to mine, but I thank you for the advice.

As for me, I don’t expect much from the gun folks, but I would appreciate it if people who theoretically know better — such as you — would not insist on casting this as a “trannies vs. gun nuts” debate.

The only way my gender entered into the debate was because Mr. Uncle decided to attack my appearance; the gun issue has nothing to do with my gender identity, and I’d really like if, at the very least, folks on a site such as TransAdvocate could avoid conflating the issue.

things on the internet seem to take on a life of their own, despite our appreciations. in my 10 years on being an internet enthusiast, i can offer the following: if you don’t want people to make an issue of the fact that you’re trans, don’t put it in your profile. if you do (and obviously, you have), you will always be speaking on the internet as a trans person, whether or not you actually want to be speaking as a trans person. only privileged white men get to speak as “regular people”. the rest of us are tokens.

no, it’s not fair, but that’s the way the world (and the internet) work.

Uh, hey, folks? I really don’t appreciate this whole debate including a big focus on my gender. I feel as if my gender identity has been dragged in this against my will, and I never made an issue of it regarding this whole thing — not until various trannybashing comments were posted left and right to attack me, and even then, I am not very comfortable with the idea that this is, somehow, a transgender community vs. gun nut thing.

I’m an individual, with my own beliefs that have nothing to do with my gender identity. I’d really appreciate it if you, and other people, could stop making a big deal about my gender.

If we all got along all the time, life would be *really* boring for people like me — who grow and learn from the differences we all have.

but I definitely understand when two ideologies seem to conflict.

Seems like someone who dislikes guns leaped to a conclusion based on their own subtle prejudices…
