remington ammo

i stopped by shooter’s world today to try out some remington ammo i bought at cabela’s yesterday. they were having a sale on umc ammo so i got a 100 round value pack of jacketed hollowpoints for my smith & wesson 9mm 5906.

at $34.99 for 100 rounds, that’s a pretty good deal. and the ammo is pretty accurate, features moderate recoil, and fired fairly clean. there were no misfires in the 30 rounds i fired.

when i shoot the 9mm, i like to use the shoot-n-c self adhesive targets, which create a bright yellow ring around the hole so it’s easy to see where on the target the bullet hit. i like the remington 9mm jhp, especially at the price i paid.

i wish i could say the same about the golden bullet .22 jhp ammo i also got.

the price was right, at $14.99 for the 525 round value pack, and the ammo is pretty accurate.

while the federal champion .22 ammo has lots of duds (as many as 1 dud per 10 round magazine), the remington ammo seemed to experience a failure to cycle, also as much as once per magazine (though i could get through a few magazines without any failures). so that was a disappointment. i’ll finish up the box (unlike the remington cyclone .22 ammo which i won’t shoot even for practice) and stick to the american eagle ae-22 ammo which always works flawlessly for me. it’s about $18.00 for a box of 400 rounds, so it’s a little pricier, but it’s dependable, clean, and accurate.
