Hopefully I didn't contribute at all to the negativity of that discussion. I try at all times to be as tolerant and considerate of others views as I'd rather they are of mine. I was most dissapointed that a lot of my points went unanswered especially on the philosophical and logical problems with aspects of many arguments. However when one post came up... I was feeling pretty darn personally insulted. Thankfully I was able to keep my cool and state that fact without an inflamatory outburst.

It's easy in a heated conversation to lose one's cool and make inflamatory statements. The measure of the character of someone is their capacity to apologise once they calm down when that happens.

I'm the one who shut it down. :( I had the same problem with the thread you did, and finally asked Pam to shut the thread down for further comments. The posts were getting hard to read -- Pam had reached the point where she just "abandoned" the thread.

Pam and I both wanted to keep the comments available while shutting down future comments (like one can in WordPress), but PHB's software (SoapBox) doesn't allow that.

Pam's writing the SoapBox developers to see if we can fix that issue. I'd like to have the comments available just to show folk how out of hand things can get when one debates who qualifies as a woman with transgender, transsexual, HBS, and WBT women in the conversation.

Often, I think that with many "Trans" people, even after surgery, hormones, self acceptance, and/or anything else, the anger remains... the bitterness and psychological damage remains. It pains me that any of it is used as fuel for action or even discussion within the "Trans" community itself. I think that all of that negativity is... misdirected. If we bring ourselves down, "they" don't even have to try!
