according to kgw.com:
David French, 48, was charged with murder in the bludgeoning death of 51-year-old Frank Johnson last May. French jumped out of a third-story window in high heels when police forced their way inside the home he shared with Johnson.
Investigators found Johnson’s body inside but they were not able to catch French.
it’s amazing to me that anyone could jump out of a third-story window in high heels. but to also out-run police? that’s the height of fashion. or something.

I think, a couple of generations ago, all women could run in heels. We are out of practice.
I’ve been living in flat shoes for the past 17 years, but Before Children I lived in heels. So in the past six months or so, I’ve started to wear them again. I now can dance in 4 inch heels, and I have a serious pair of 8-inch platforms in which I can walk…not yet dance.
Not that I’m going to be dancing in those, anyway. My husband would have a total conniption, if I showed myself in public in stripper heels.
But I like the mental picture.
So, hey, it’s all a matter of practice.
And I think having the police behind you helps anybody run a little faster, heels or no.

admittedly, i’ve also spent the night dancing in 4″ heels. those days are long over though - i doubt my back could take the punishment. i could never get the hang of running in heels. and i don’t see how anyone could jump from a third story window in heels. i think if i had to jump from a third story window, i’d take the heels off first, police or no. but you may have a point about practice.

True, I would take the shoes off. But maybe he didn’t have time to think.
I don’t know I’d be jumping from a third story window, in ANY footgear. Third story is for STAIRS.
Then again, I haven’t killed anyone, either, so maybe I just have no room to comment.
