the phoenix pink pistols had our saturday shoot today, and since i was still off on my vacation, i was able to attend. i even managed to get my wonderful hubby to come along. after an hour of target practice, we stopped off at copper star coffee for a relaxing time with good friends and conversation.
i’m still putting together the pictures from our vacation at harrah’s in laughlin, nevada. stay tuned.
I really appreciated this. I’ve often had the feeling that people should have the right to carry a weapon to defend themselves. At the same time, though, I’m absolutely and totally in favor of the most restrictive legislation possible when it comes to guns. And frankly, I don’t like being around weapons, and I don’t want to be in a house that has guns in it. But it just makes sense to me - those of us who are targets should be able to defend ourselves. End of story.

sorry for the delay in responding to your comment. when i first looked into purchasing a gun, i was living in new jersey, which has some of the most stringent gun laws in the country. it took over two months and lots of paperwork to obtain the proper license, and that was for shotguns/rifles. there’s an additional permit required for pistols, and one needs a permit for each one purchased. i was totally ok with the red tape.
contrasted with arizona, all one needs to do is provide their driver’s license, and there’s no waiting period. plunk down your money, and you can walk out with a loaded gun. literally - one can legally carry a loaded weapon in a holster on ones hip. you need a permit to conceal it, however. and that’s something i’m looking into - an eight hour class, and a couple of tests, along with the fees.
i understand why some people would want to avoid being around guns. but for me, they provide a degree of empowerment. and i enjoy going to the range - it’s an inexpensive way to hone ones skills, and kill a couple of hours (if you’ll pardon the pun).
