Nope - one can be referred to as acting like (or being) a dick, an asshole or a cunt regardless of gender. There was no misgendering there April, as other in the referenced writing of others external to gender reality, were consistently addressed as she, her, or Sandeen - the military version, no?

We implied nothing - we came right out and said that you were playing dress up. Not because we believe you are male, but because the State of California, the United States government, the US Navy and the VA classify you as male.

As written at genderreality, if you have an F we'll apologize. We note that you did not take us up on that. We're not engaging in hate, we're not lying - we're certainly not antitrans anything.

We're just pointing out that you sullied the uniform and even you agree that you broke the law there.

I'm sorry, but you're wrong about your hate -- or at least your blogsite's hate.

You're blogsite engaged in <a href="http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/ad-hominem.html" rel="nofollow">ad hominem/name calling</a> argumenting by referring to me as a "dick." And, by your blogger's referring to me personally as a "dick" on the blog's website, she engaged in attacking me in a way that knowingly misgendered me.

And, then y'all followed up in your piece about wearing a uniform while protesting by heavily quoting the TS-SI piece that also engaged in intentionally misgendering me -- their anonomous guest columnist explicitly misgendered me. And much like your own site in reference to me, that TS-SI post spent effort focusing on genitalia.

You personally did implicit misgendering in your comment:

<blockquote>She never served in the US Military as a woman, would no longer be allowed to serve at all, never was and never will be issued a female uniform. The military does not recognize her as female. Neither does the State of California. She’s playing dress up.</blockquote>

In other words, you've implied I'm playing dress up because you believe I'm really a man.

So let me turn this around. If I personally misgendered you either explicitly or implicitly, and quoted others who did the same thing to you, and in the process personally called you as a "dick," would you feel that I directed hate speech towards you? I believe you would; I believe you'd be lying if you said differently.

If you believe you and your website bloggers aren't engaging in antitrans hate speech in using misgendering language, name-calling, even more graphic and personal language than the hateful folk on the religious right -- then y'all are seriously deluding yourselves on what hate towards others looks like.

I'm glad you're updating again. Welcome back :)

<blockquote>"And believe me, this isn’t me trying being to say how wonderful I am for just pressing forward; this is me just expressing frustrating feelings of dejection and hurt. It’s because working and sacrificing in this instance feels unbearable: I just want to just give the f*** up. If you asked me today if being an activist and living up to my own words is worth it, I’d be hard pressed to answer “yes.”</blockquote>

Thing is, I feel you on this more than you will ever know. After 2008 I tried walking away from all of it. But the reality for me is that when I pulled away, I saw a void.

I've disagreed with you on many things, and have said so quite publicly. But the truth is that if you weren't present, the community would have less of a voice. There would be a void. There are so few voices that are willing to stand up and be heard in our community.

As a white, college educated, privileged male, I had thousands upon thousands of people willing to advocate on my behalf. To speak for me. Pastors, politicians, journalists, and everyone in between advocated and supported me in my place in the world.

But that is gone. We do not have that luxury. What I strive for now is balance. Not doing what I want to do, but what I can do. My life isn't easy, but it is worth the effort.

I am sorry, but I rather think the title of the blog has nothing to do with the content.

If you are looking to have "hits" on your page, please bear in mind that you are at the same time insinuating that gay activities occur at the Hilton Kampala, which is not correct.

This abhorrent behaviour should be left to the immoral first world!

Unintended consequences...
I think the whole bathroom thing is yet another smoke screen put up by the religious right.

Your story above is another example of the absurdities trying to impose non-sensical laws.

Can I nominate Christine Newton-John to be on that show? GOOGLE: "wkyc: middlefield: transgender woman admits to causing husband's heart attack" ...I personally know CNJ - an absolute mess in a dress, damaged goods since childhood turned murderer - and posted my comments at: "writing divas, christine newton-john." And yes, I do know that not all transgender people are manipulative, scheming, unbalanced whackos (like CNJ; a whacko BEFORE gender reassignment, not because of gender reassignent). A 5-YEAR (MAX) SENTENCE IS MUUUCH TOOO LENIENT IN THIS TORTURE/MURDER CASE!!!

Last I heard the antidiscrimination legislation in New South Wales was not considered to include genderqueer, crossdressers etc under it's legal definition of transgender. Leaving many people open to discrimination based on gender expression.

The Australian Human Rights Commissions Sex and Gender Diversity project still found a lot of issues for all groups. It's report on identity documentation will be out very very soon which will be interesting considering the conversations on the matter I was involved in on the forum for the project.
